OOC

Reworking this blog ‘cause I think I should revise this character quite a bit. I’m not having the fun I usually have with my muse and my rp'ing suffers because of it, and my partners deserve better. I want to to thank everybody I’ve rp'ed with for hanging with me. I hope we get to play again soon!

snowflake-owl ASKED:
Oh man oh man, how would Mr and Mrs Pepper react to Lewis' ghost in the antagonist AU?

keyblack-hl:

oh god oh GOD.

Here’s my view of it: they wouldn’t know.  Not in the beginning, anyway.  Lewis’d never go to them on his own because he’d know they wouldn’t approve and deep down he’d have the unconscious feeling what he was doing was wrong, and it’d keep him from trying to talk to his parents about it regardless of how convinced he was in his head that his revenge was justified.

When they finally do find out that he’s not been able to pass on, it’s after he’s been brought back into the group.  And it takes a lot of convincing from Vivi and Mystery and a final push from an extremely nervous Arthur to make him decide to go back to them and let them know he’s still around.

When he goes home, Vivi and Arthur and Mystery stay in the van.  He goes up to the front door alone—this is something he has to do; he can’t hide behind his friends from his family.  He knocks, and at first nobody answers.  Just before he is about to try again, a small voice pipes up from the other side of the door.

“One second please!"  Several rapid but lightweight footsteps follow, and then there’s rattling at the door handle by hands that are clearly very new to learning how a lock works.  Lewis briefly considers leaving right then and there, but the the door opens, and a little girl with soft pink hair is standing there, looking up at the tall ghost at the front door.

Lewis abruptly remembers he is not wearing his humanlike disguise and begins to back away, horrified at the monstrous, flaming, skeletal visage he is giving to his younger sister.  And her eyes go wide, and she immediately turns tail and flees back inside, slamming the door in Lewis’s face.  He stands there for a few moments, simultaneously dumbfounded, heartbroken, and utterly defeated.  He glances back towards the Mystery Skulls van, and he wonders if the others saw all of that.  He’s sure they did.

But right as he begins to turn away to rejoin his friends, the door behind him reopens with a click and a squeak.

"See?  SEE??  He’s back!!  It’s really him!!!”

“Y-you’re right!!  Big bro Lewis!!”

“Oh, Lewis, we missed you so much!  Don’t ever leave again!!”

Before Lewis can respond, he feels three small sets of arms wrap around his legs and squeeze him tight.  At a loss for words or actions, he stands there, staring down at the triplets, with his arms raised in the air as though lowering them to return the embrace would make all three of them disappear.

One of the girls lets go to wipe away the tears on her cheeks that are betrayed by the wide smile plastered on her face.  “Cayenne, we need to go tell Mom and Dad!!  Hurry!”

“Bell, you’ve gotta come with me!!  Jeanette, we’ll be right back!"  The other two run off inside, while Jeanette reaches up and grabs the ghost’s hand, puling him down and inside the house.  Lewis stumbles behind her clumsily, unsure if what’s happening is real or just a dream.  Can ghosts even dream?  But any consideration on this line of thought is interrupted by the little girl gripping her brother’s arm and leaning up to give him a kiss on his cheekbone.  He turns to look at her with wide eyes, studying her face.

They know who he is.  They remember him.  They aren’t afraid.  And they want him back.

He doesn’t deserve this.

He promptly wraps the girl up in a big hug, feeling his body begin to shake uncontrollably with what could only be a ghost’s equivalent of sobs.  Two more small sets of arms join in the embrace, and Lewis envelops all three of his sisters in the same bear hug he used to give them every night before bedtime.  And he only lets go when he hears two sets of decidedly slower, heavier footsteps approaching from the side.

He looks up and is struck silent.

Mr. Pepper’s hands go up to his mouth.  Mrs. Pepper drops the spatula she was holding.  The girls must have brought them directly from the kitchen.

Lewis attempts to speak, the sounds only coming out as a distorted crackle.  After a moment, he tries again, barely managing to croak out the only two words he can think of.

"Mom?  Dad?”

Mrs. Pepper gives him no time to think of a followup to those words as she rushes towards him to wrap him up in a big hug.  Her husband follows a moment afterwards, and they practically immobilize the ghost where he stands.  The same quivering sobs slowly begin to rack Lewis’s form again as he hesitantly lowers his arms to wrap around the two, and when he finally reaches them, he immediately tightens into a squeeze.  He’s not letting them go; he doesn’t WANT to let them go.  A warm, gentle hand begins to stroke the back of his head, and his sobs make their way into his voice.

“Sshhh, honey,” a rich, gentle voice coos, barely keeping together without breaking into sobs of its own.  “It’s… it’s okay.  It’s okay…”

The other voice is not doing so well at maintaining its composure.  A wailing sob mixed with the occasional sniffle and hiccup direct Lewis’s attention to the much smaller man hugging him around his midsection.  Lewis tentatively reaches his hand further down to Mr. Pepper’s back and rests there, a wordless attempt to console him.  The father sniffs in surprise, then manages a short laugh.  He looks up at the skull of his son, no sign of fear or uncertainty in his eyes at all, and smiles, the redness on his cheeks enhanced by the irritating salt in his tears.  Mrs. Pepper rubs her husband’s back reassuringly, and he wipes his eyes to look up at Lewis more clearly.

“Welcome home, son.”

Lewis’ Sisters - At least my interpretation of them anyway. Once MysteryBen announced that these characters exist, I desperately needed to work on a visual of them. Spent a good week trying to figure them out through lots of sketches!

I headcanon them to be triplets with the names Cayenne, Bell, and Jeanette (because Mr. and Mrs. Pepper totally would). I also headcanon that each one slightly favors Lewis, Arthur, or Vivi respectively (while still loving Lewis wholeheartedly of course). Hence why each daughter wears a barrette representing their favorite.

Congrats on the buttload of followers! As for my request, I request Lewis tearing a haunted house to pieces in a frantic attempt to find his friends. (they turn up in the kitchen, perfectly healthy and little confused)
